NEW NHW AREA IN BANORA POINT

NW Banora Point may be hived off as a separate NHW area. I attended a meeting held to consider this possibility. At time of writing this newsletter, residents, especially in the Covent Garden Way area are working towards creating their own NHW area. By the time you read this it is possible that the necessary public meeting will have been held. It is expected that the boundaries would be Fraser Drive in the west (bordering on Flametree Park NHW), Amaroo Drive in the south, Darlington Drive in the east (but perhaps the western boundary of Club Banora Golf Course, and Greenway Drive to the NE (including St Joseph’s schools) and thence west along the southern boundary of the sewage treatment plant and Pioneer Country. The Combined NHW Committee has agreed to assist the new group with $100 to help in start up costs.

If the plan comes to fruition, it will mean some changes – not the least of which affects the Centaur and High School in the new area. Children at these schools receive a copy of the newsletter to take home – this inevitably means some duplication as their parents may get one delivered direct. Changes will also affect our street deliverers. New deliverers are welcome – some of our original workers have died, moved away, or are now to frail to be able to carry on. When the new arrangements have been finalized, please ask if you can assist – at present, there are large parts of Banora Point where we are not able to make deliveries.

Reminder – This is Spring
Your bushes will start growing soon, if they haven’t already done so, making it easy for uninvited guests to lurk while “casing your joint”. Time to prune them back to assist in protecting your property. And people will start going off on holiday – check with your neighbours, pick up their mail and advertising leaflets, keep a watch over their homes, and ask them to do the same for you. Mutual self help is our motto!

Annual General Meeting
November 17 is our Annual General Meeting. Please come and meet us. New faces are always welcome, and you will not necessarily be given a job to do – though if you would like to help, that is always welcome. Our thanks to all those who have helped us in the past, especially the street deliverers, who so often do a good job uncomplainingly.
