I would like to first thank all of the foundation members of this group for standing up and taking an interest in trying to make our area a better place to live and starting Banora Point’s latest Neighbourhood Watch group. I would like to extend a warm welcome to all new persons interested in joining the group.
It is pleasing to see that our council has listened to police and other community groups including Neighbourhood Watch, and done something about stopping trouble makers and criminals from using the area’s walkways as arteries to come and go as they please and avoid detection from police. Given that the walkway at Honeymyrtle Drive is being closed, my suggestion to council would be to set up security gates on these walkway areas, which would then be locked at dusk to deter such people from using the walkways in the cover of darkness to carry out their crimes. So well done Tweed Council for standing up and making a start, but it doesn’t end there and we need to work on creating a better area to live in.
Yours,
Ron Dowsett .
